Kellie Simerly

Movement Specialist

Kellie Simerly (she/her), a 2014 graduate of Millard West High School,  is from Omaha, Nebraska where she currently works at Makovicka Physical Therapy. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in May of 2o22, where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. During her time at Kansas, Kellie was a member of the Marching Jayhawks, serving as a rank leader for the 2015-2016 seasons and baritone section leader for the 2017 season.


Kellie spent four summers with the Phantom Regiment playing euphonium from 2015 to 2018. During her age-out season in 2018, Kellie served as the movement captain and euphonium section leader. Upon returning to Omaha, she began working with the Millard West Marching Band on visual staff, where they received Best Visual in the state of Nebraska for the 2018 and 2019 seasons under her instruction. She also helped guide Millard West to its first Nebraska State Marching Band championship title in 2022. Outside of Millard West, Kellie is the Visual Coordinator for Crossroads Percussion in Des Moines, IA. She has been with Crossroads Percussion since 2018. Kellie previously served on the Phantom Regiment visual team from 2020 to 2022 with a focus on physical training and movement.


Kellie has been involved with the performing arts since she was 5 years old. She started off with dance, doing so competitively until she was 17. She has been involved with the marching arts since 2010 and continues to stay involved through teaching. She is well-versed in human biomechanics, dance and movement, marching technique, and physical health from her extensive dance and marching experiences, as well as her professional education in physical therapy. Kellie loves being involved with the marching band program that kickstarted her wonderful career in the marching arts and looks forward to yet another fun season with the Millard West Wildcat Marching Band!
