Meet the Staff
John has been the Director of Bands at Millard West High School since the fall of 2002. His responsibilities include directing the Varsity Marching Band, the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I and co-directing the Junior Varsity Marching Band and Concert Band. In addition to his directing responsibilities, John teaches Music Connections (History of American Popular Music), Music Theory, A.P. Music Theory, and is the Music Department Chair. John also served as President for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association (NSBA).
Prior to moving to Omaha, John taught at Pekin Community High School in Pekin, Illinois for eleven years. While teaching in Illinois, John was active at both the District and State levels of the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA), serving as the District IV Jazz Chairman and the All-State Jazz Band Chair, judging percussion auditions for the student All-State Ensembles, presenting at the IMEA Convention (as a member of the Rhythm City Percussion Ensemble), and Guest Conducting the District II Junior High Jazz Band.
John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1990) and his Master of Arts degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University (2000). John’s professional memberships include NSBA, NMEA, NAfME, and PAS.
A native of Decatur, Illinois, John currently resides in Omaha with his wife Tracy and their children Tyler and Kelsey.
Trenor was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated with Magna Cum Laude distinction from the Augustana University School of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education. While at university, he studied trombone and euphonium with the incomparable Vance Shoemaker and Jason Roseth, both members of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, and Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Also in his time at Augustana, he arranged pieces of music for various ensembles, including the Offutt Brass Quintet from the Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.
Ensembles that Trenor has performed in include wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, Northlanders jazz ensemble, trombone choir, trombone quartets, euphonium quartets, brass choirs, and brass quintets. Alongside the lengthy list of performing, he has also performed two seasons with the world class Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2019, he served as a section leader, and was a featured trombone soloist with the drum and bugle corps.
Trenor holds membership in NAfME, and presented at the 2021 South Dakota Band Master’s Association Conference.
Prior to moving to Omaha, he previously taught one year in Parkston, SD as the 5-12 Band Director, where he revived the marching band and jazz band program that had long been a part of the community.
Currently, Trenor resides in West Omaha, serving as the Assistant Director of Bands at Millard West High School.
Linsey is a class of 2003 Millard West graduate. She received a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007.
Currently, she works at The Interior Design Firm, IDFomaha.com, where expression of creativity is encouraged and passion for people and great design intertwine. Linsey has been sharing her 20+ years of dance and color guard experience as an instructor for the Millard West Color Guard since 2005.
During the winter season, Linsey assists the Heartland Winter Arts Association with judging indoor Winter Guard competitions.
Michal has been a visual instructor at numerous high schools around the Midwest since 2000 and is currently the Visual Caption Head at Millard West High School in Omaha, NE. Michal's marching experience includes the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band, and five seasons with the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. While marching with the Blue Devils, he won two DCI World Championships, in 1999 and 2003.
Michal is also an active adjudicator in both the fall and winter seasons. He has judged at marching contests throughout the Midwest as well as indoor percussion, winds, and winter guard with the Heartland Winter Arts Association in Omaha.
Michal graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and is working towards his Masters of Mechanical Engineering degree at Iowa State University. Currently, he works as a Design Engineer at Omaha Public Power District’s Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station.
