Support the Band via Band-Aid
From Brad Durbin - VP - Fundraising
Millard West Band & Color Guard Families,
As you probably know, the Millard West Wildcat Marching Band strives to be among the best in the area every year. Our Wildcat Marching Band took 3rd in the Nebraska state competition last year and finished in the top 5 in every local competition, winning the Titan Invitational.
Putting together a marching band that will compete with the best bands in the area requires a strong effort from everyone involved – students, staff, volunteers, and family.
Your financial contributions and volunteer efforts as part of the band family show your support for your student and their hard work to put forth a winning effort.
The Millard West Band Boosters have a few key fundraisers to help the band and color guard.
One of these is Band-Aid in which we ask each family to make a $125 donation to the MW Band Boosters.
What does this requested donation do?
It helps offset costs in putting together a top-tier program, from critical needs like keeping students properly nourished and hydrated during rehearsals and competitions, to providing transportation, to keeping instruments fully functional. Your donation helps obtain necessary equipment and materials for the competition shows. Most of these are far beyond the budget provided by the school district, just like any successful activity or athletic program.
Just as important, your donation helps avoid having to run multiple fundraisers during the school year. We don’t need to sell candy or wrapping paper and can focus on our few large fundraisers if most band families contribute to Band-Aid.
Unfortunately, last year we only received donations from about 34% of band families, and if the participation continues to fall behind, we will have to either run more fundraisers or cut our budget, damaging our chances to compete at the highest levels.
Let’s get full participation this year in Band-Aid!
We’ve made it easy to donate:
You can either make out a check to Millard West Band Boosters and bring it to the Band Camp Family Picnic on August 2nd, or send it with your student in an envelope marked “Band-Aid” to be given to Mr. Keith or Mrs. Welu during the first week of school.
Or, if you’d prefer to pay by credit or debit card, look for the Band-Aid sign at the picnic on August 2nd, or visit the band webstore at https://bit.ly/31bn82H.
Your commitment to the band program and your student will not go unnoticed.
