Marching Bands
Varsity Marching Band
The Millard West Varsity Marching Band consists of approximately 130 students in grades 9-12. It is one of the premier marching organizations in the Midwest. The band focuses extensively on tone quality, marching technique, articulation & overall musicality. Auditions are held in the spring. The Millard West Varsity Marching Band competes at approximately six regional competitions during the fall semester. They have one sectional a week during the months of June and July. A one week band camp is held during July where students learn marching techniques and begin learning the field show. During the school year they have one night rehearsal and two morning rehearsals throughout the week. |

The band performs at all home Varsity Football Games with a pregame show, pep band songs in the stands and a halftime performance of their competitive field show. The only exception is the last home Varsity Football Game where the Junior Varsity Marching Band performs their field show at halftime.
Junior Varsity Marching Band
The Millard West Junior Varsity Marching Band consists of approximately 40 students. It is a great way for the students to prepare for the Varsity Marching Band. The band focuses extensively on tone quality, marching technique, articulation, and overall musicality. A one week band camp is held during July where students are taught by the Leadership Team basic marching techniques and pregame music for football games. The band performs with the Varsity Marching Band at all home Varsity Football Games with a pregame show and pep band songs in the stands. They perform their halftime show at the last home Varsity Football Game. |
