| John Keith - Director of Bands |
|
John Keith is currently in his eighth year as Director of Bands at Millard West High School. His responsibilities include directing the Varsity Marching Band, the Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Ensemble, and co-directing the Concert Band. In addition to his directing responsibilities, Mr. Keith teaches The Music Consumer (a music appreciation class), Music Theory, and A.P. Music Theory and is the Music Department Initiator.
Prior to moving to Omaha, Mr. Keith taught at Pekin Community High School in Pekin, Illinois for 11 years. While teaching in Illinois, Mr. Keith was active at both the District and State levels of the Illinois Music Educators Association, serving as the District IV Jazz Chairman, the All-State Jazz Band Chair, judging percussion auditions for the student All-State Ensemble;mbles, presenting at the IMEA Convention (as a member of the Rhythm City Percussion Ensemble), and Guest Conducting the District II Junior High Jazz Band.
Mr. Keith received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1990) and his Masters of Arts in Music Education from Western Illinois university (2000). Mr. Keith's professional memberships include NSBA, NMEA, MENC, and PAS.
A native of Decatur, Illinois, Mr. Keith currently resides in Omaha with his wife Tracy and their children Tyler and Kelsey.

| Kent Krause - Assistant Director of Bands |
|
Kent Krause is currently in his first year as Assistant Director of Bands at
Millard West High School. His responsibilities include conducting the
Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble II and co-directing the Varsity Marching
Band and the Freshman Marching and Concert Bands. In addition to his
conducting responsibilities, Mr. Krause is also the beginning band
specialist at Willowdale Elementary School and the beginning Orchestra
Specialist at Black Elk Elementary School.
Before moving to Omaha, Mr. Krause served as Director of Bands at Minooka
Jr. High School in Minooka, Illinois. After three years of teaching in
Minooka, Mr. Krause was accepted as a conducting graduate assistant at
Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. While at Illinois State, he
guest conducted the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Winds, and Symphonic Band in
various performances as well as served as conductor of the University Band.
In addition to his conducting degree, Mr. Krause earned a degree in
Euphonium Performance and served as principal euphonium in the Illinois
State University Wind Symphony for three years.
Mr. Krause received his Bachelor of Music Education degree (2003) and Master
of Music degree (2009) from Illinois State University. His professional
affiliations include MENC, NMEA, NBA, ITEA, and CBDNA. Mr. Krause currently
resides in Omaha with his wife, Christa, a Doctoral candidate in Flute
Performance at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. |
